Day 1  Addis Ababa - Harar.

Fly from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa on Ethiopian Airlines.  Continue by vehicle from Dire Dawa to Harar stopping by Ethiopia's largest "chat" market in Aweday.  Stroll through the 16th century walled city of Harar, the fourth most important city in the Islamic World.  See the home of Arthur Rimbuad, renowned French poet who worked and lived in Harar as a "gun-runner" during the 19th century. Overnight Hotel

Day 2  Harar.  

Visit the colorful Islamic market. Tour the National and Harari museums and the house of Ras Mekonnen (father of Haile Selassie.)  In the evening see the "Hyena Man" feeding the hyenas that gather nightly outside the town. Overnight Hotel.  

Day 3  Harar to Addis Ababa.

Return to Dire Dawa for your flight to Addis Ababa via Ethiopian Airlines.

Day 1  Addis Ababa - Awash National Park.

Drive to Awash National Park via the Rift Valley Lake of Bishoftu near Debre Zeit.  Visit the Awash Falls and view wild game in the park. Overnight Hotel

Day 2  Awash National Park - Harar.  

After visiting hot springs and the Fentale volcanic crater, drive to Harar via Harege Plateau visiting coffee and chat plantations.Overnight Hotel

Day 3  Harar.

Day 4  Harar.  

Take an excursion to the Babile Elephant Sanctuary via the "Valley of Marvels," a region of spectacular rock formations.  Take a side trip to visit homes in the cliff-top village of Koremi.  Visit the market in Hajifaj (Monday and Friday only.)  In the evening see the "Hyena Man" feeding the hyenas that gather nightly outside the town.Overnight Hotel.

Day 5  Harar – Addis Ababa.  

Drive to Addis Ababa, stopping by Ethiopia's largest "chat" market in Aweday. Farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant featuring dancers and musicians representing some of the country's many ethnic groups
